Hi, friends. Today I want to talk about total over/under bets. In the beginning, it was only about the number of points, scored by both teams. For example, Man. City vs Man United at 1/29/2020, final score was 0 – 1, total score 0 + 1 = 1. So, if you’ve bet on total under 1.5, 2.5, … you won; if you’ve bet on total under 0.5, or total over 1.5, 2.5, … you lose. This type of total over/under bets is called European.
Now a variety of possible over/under bets is much wider, you can wager on tennis, basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, table tennis, Esports. Types of over/under wagers
- European total over/under. If it is a half number, then you either win or lose. If it is a whole number, then you bet could be returned (example: you place a bet on total over 1, the final score is 0 – 1 at the end of the match, so total score is 0 + 1 = 1, in this case, the bookmaker will return your money).
- Asian total can be a quarter number (0.75, 1.25, etc.) Example: you’ve bet on over 2.75, it means, that half the stake is a bet on Over 2.5 and a half is bet on Over 3. If the total is 4 or more, the bet is graded Win. If total goals are 3 it’s half-win, half of the bet is graded Push and another one is winning. If total goals are 2 or less than you lose. So there are 4 possible outcomes in Asian total – Win, Lose, Half-Win, Half-Loss.
- Individual total (for each team). You wager on the total for team 1 or team 2.
- Total for specific events (yellow cards, red cards, corners in football; a number of mistakes, serves in tennis; etc.)
In terms of betting outcomes, European total can be divided on 2-way or 3-way total. In 2 ways total if you made a bet on total over 2, and the final score is 2, then your bet is graded Push. In 3 ways total it will be graded Loss because you can bet on total under 2, total equal 2, and total over 2.
